Staff scientist position is available in the group of Clinical Genomic Networks (www.picb.ac.cn/ClinicalGenomicNTW/) at the CAS-MPG Partner Institute for Computational Biology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (www.picb.ac.cn).
Job Description
We are seeking candidates with good computational background to enhance, develop and validate approaches in computational biology involving gene network reverse engineering, based on the information obtained for genomic data. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary and interactive environment.
Job Requirements
Candidates must have MS or Ph.D. and background in mathematics, physics, engineering computer science or related field, and be highly motivated in attacking intriguing and complex problems in modern biology. Fluent written and spoken communication in English is required. Scientific programming and computing experience is required.

Join our research group! If you are interested in Computational Biology, more precisely molecular simulations of biomolecules, protein structure and mechanics, bioinformatics, and/or high performance computing check the following projects:
BIOMECHANICS and BIOPOLYMER ELASTICITY
Mechanical functions of biological fibers and bio-inspired synthetic analogues, and of unfolded proteins
PROTEIN ALLOSTERY
Factors, mechanisms and evolution
PROTEINS under TENSION
Mechanochemistry: enzymatic reactions and force
Protein mechanical networks and evolution
Signal transduction at the cell membrane, clustering and force transduction (a Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft project)
We work at the PICB, a joint institute of the Max-Planck Society and Chinese Academy of Sciences, located in the heart of Shanghai. We offer the stimulating and dynamic environment of a young research group and a recently established institute.
State of the art molecular dynamics and hybrid quantum/classical mechanics methods will be used and partially developed in our group. The institute- and group-owned extensive parallel computing clusters and access to supercomputing facilities will be at your disposal.
Above projects are in close collaboration with experimental groups, in Shanghai, Germany, the US and elsewhere.

Job Description
We are seeking candidates to develop approaches in computational biology for better understanding regulatory mechanisms and design principles of cell signaling systems. Potential research areas involve developing novel techniques to model and simulate biomolecular interactions, modeling and analyzing signal transduction pathways in immune systems, and theoretical investigation of single-molecule kinetics. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary and interactive environment.
Job Requirements
Candidates must have M.S. or Ph.D. in biology, physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering or a related field, and be highly motivated in attacking intriguing and complex problems in modern biology. Fluent written and spoken communication in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English is required. Strong scientific programming and computing experience is required.
